Our founder, David Comisford, was asked to present on Experiential Learning at the Belk College of Business at Charlotte for their Fall 2023 faculty training session. In this presentation, David covers a portion of the data from the EduSourced Experiential Learning Benchmark Study, (since updated to include 2024 data) and the three levels of Experiential Learning that business schools implement.

The Three Stages of Experiential Project-based Learning

Every school that offers experiential learning falls on a three level scale.

  • Level One: Ad-hoc project-based learning dependent on individual instructors or faculty teaching it.
  • Level Two: Designated role for “owning” Experiential Learning and cataloging of projects across the school.
  • Level Three: Dedicated Office of Experiential Learning connected with support offices within the school like Career Services, Advancement, Corporate Relations, etc. Sustainable EL efforts that can be leveraged into student recruiting and institutional employer relationship gain.
